LBG History

The first time that Athens contacted BEST was at the GA in Patras in 1995, where Athens was elected as observer member. Shortly after that GA, no one was really motivated so everything was forgotten, but fortunately not for long! Another group of students, during the first months of their academic life, liked so much the idea of BEST that decided to establish an LBG in Athens. We started everything from the beginning. At the GA97 in Belgium it was decided that Athens could maintain the observer status, although the two years - that is the limit for an observer group to remain in the association without applying for babymembership- had already expired.

We established good relationships with the University, - which is the main reason for the fast growth and prosperity of the Group - participated in SCs (only inside the country, as one can say co-organizers) and showed in many ways our abilities and willingness to work and promote BEST. During the PM97 in Warsaw - the immediate after General Assembly, Athens was voted unanimously as one of the new Baby members. One year later, everyone inside BEST was convinced that Athens proved rewarding the challenge and could get the honour to be an equal member of BEST. So, since Sunday the 15th November 1998, last day of the PM98 in Torino, our group is a proud full member of BEST.
