Yacht Design

General description

Have you ever dreamt about building your own boat? Here comes a course where you actually get a chance to learn how to do it! After the success of the course 2005, Local BEST Group Gothenburg has decided to once again gather boat-enthusiastic, internationally-minded engieering students from all over Europe!

In the course Yacht Design, 4-18 June 2006, you will get a foundation of the principles that one has to take into account when constructing a sailing or motor yacht. The course is given by the accredited Professor Lars Larsson from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. Professor Larsson and Yacht Design Engineer Rolf E. Eliasson (who will also hopefully be able to attend the course) are the authors of the book "Principles of Yacht Design" which will be used as course litterature. The course also includes more practical parts, such as visits to the SSPA Test Facility and to the Najad boatyard. We believe that this is a course that you can find great use of in the future.

Well, a BEST course is about more than just the academic part! We, from the organizers' part, promise to do our BEST to make you feel welcome to the city of Gothenburg and to Sweden. Gothenburg has the biggest harbour of the Scandinavian Countries and has a rich naval history, from the time of the Vikings to the present day! During our rich social and cultural program, we will also be more than happy to show you the beautiful archipelago of Gothenburg and teach you some Swedish traditions.

So - what are you waiting for? Come and enjoy the long bright nights of June and swim in the (still freezing cold) sea! Find new friends from all over Europe and have a once in a lifetime experience! APPLY NOW!
