Learning goals and objectives:
The objective of this course is to familiarise the audience with the basics of WEB search engines and WEB information retrieval techniques. The students are also expected to achieve a better understanding of some standard WEB protocols, such as HTTP and DNS. New concepts regarding information indexing and various search techniques, as well as some more advanced analysis techniques will be presented. Efficient parallelisation and distribution techniques will also be detailed.
