Managing Earth Information

General description

We live, plan, build and create on earth. Is there a way we can acquire the knowledge and the information needed, in order to have the best outcome?

In many fields of science, such as geology, agriculture, road construction, sustainable development, preservation of monuments and technical works, the new technologies can substantially help engineers in order to make the right decisions concerning how to manage and develop earth. The new applications of computer science can therefore supply with the right information about earth - what the topographers call geoinformation.

The course will show you how you can gather this kind of information and how to make the best of the above. Each lecture will highlight the basic principles of geodesy, hartography, photogrammetry and remote sensing, along with the applications of G.I.S. (Geographical Information Systems)
