Multimedia Systems: Wireless and Wired

General description

Media industry is a complex which lives from production and distribution of information in various forms (newspapers, cinema, tv, radio, books, etc.). The current trend is towards electronic, personalized multi-media information delivery as symbolized by the Web. The first week of the course deals with systems based on wired and wireless networking for multimedia information delivery. Foundations of signal compression and modulation, network protocols, media terminals, hardware and software protocols will be covered. On the second part of the course the recent trends and future developments will be illustrated using example of newest communicator and media terminal devices. Participants will also get some hands-on training with programming EPOC mobile operating systems.
