If the answer is yes, you need to come to Brest! This course will introduce you to the field of marine robotics, covering the key areas of autonomous robotic mission, command and control, and sensors (acoustic, magnetic and optical). The main idea is to move from theory to practical experience on real systems. We will be spending most of the time at lake Guerlédan so that you can get practical experience.

Besides that, you will be able to discover one of the most beautiful regions in France -Brittany. You will have the opportunity to make new BEST friends and taste the BEST crêpes in the world! Join us and you won’t regret it!

Content and topics:
Our BEST Course offers a deep dive into marine robotics and acoustics, covering autonomous missions, control systems, and sensor tech. Led by experts, it includes lectures, hands-on Python coding, and piloting of marine robots. The course includes practical work such as a field lab, and a final lake challenge, where participants will be able to showcase their skills. With basic Python knowledge, they learn to navigate boats and other types of robots autonomously and understand marine tech better.
Learning goals and objectives:
The course will allow you to understand the key aspects of marine robotics and marine acoustics. By the end of this course, you will know the basics about how to remotely operate a marine craft.
Examination type:
Oral presentation on practical work.

Practical arrangements

All of the following are covered by the event fee:

Lodging:
Dormitories/youth hotel.
Meals:
3 meals per day, at least one of them cooked and hot. We will ask the selected participants about any food allergies or special diets prior to the event.
Transportation:
Mainly by foot and public transport. Bus will be provided to go from Brest to Guerlédan and to come back.
