The town of Lund is more than a thousand years old, and with its beautiful churches and ruins, buildings and many parks, Lund is a good place to keep an LBG. The surroundings are typical for the southern parts of Sweden - some people say its as flat as a pancake, but we think they're just jealous. Or maybe they have never been to Lund, because Lund is far from flat!

LBG Lund is Sweden's southernmost LBG, but has despite its nearness to the rest of Europe, a very low amount of exchange students compared to the other Swedish LBGs.

History

In 1991 Lund became a BEST-baby on GA in Lisbon thanks to Anders Berglund, later president of the 3rd Board of BEST (92/93) and in 1992 LBG Lund became a full member of BEST. Since the start BEST Lund have arranged at least one summer course per year on a lot of various topics. Now almost 18 years later we are still motivated and ready for challenges.

In 2008 LBG Lund had our first official alumni meeting, where Lund besties from over all the years showed up.

The fluffy part

There have been several fluffy animals passing through BEST Lund over the last years, and it all started with Sture.

Sture was a fox that lived as the mascot of LBG Lund for about two years. He managed to take part of many events until he tradically died in a fire "accident" during a CE with LBG Budapest in 2006. The movie about his life has just made it to youtube, and you can find it here.

Bert, a sheep that lost his ear and ran away to travel by his own during the end of the second part of the Lund-Budapest CE. Bert started a blog to tell about his adventure and he actually re-appeared in Lund during the summer course 2007 before he disappeared again the next day. Since that no one have seen him.

Stampe the Rabbit made his entrance after an internal motivation weekend and stayed quite long in the city of Lund before he disappeared. When he returned from Budapest on IPF in 2008 he was not as white as he had been and today he's just resting from his wild life with the Hungarians.

Besides these mascots, several others have appeared in BEST Lund, Günter (a bunny), Fille (an elephant), MacGuyver (a cow) to mention some of them. Recently however these animals have had an ability to disappear sooner then they enter the group..

Today

Today LBG Lund consists of 15-20 members, and is in the middle of a generation shift. However, the BEST spirit is high and the last year BEST Lund has taken on a lot of new challenges. In fact, during 2008, the group arranged the two biggest internal events in it's history.

Another event that LBG Lund are proud of is the Wild Huge International Party, WHIP. This big international party (earlier also known as BIP, HIPP etc.) is one of our biggest fundraising source and gathers around 300 students every time.

Future

For the future LBG Lund have several plans.

We also want to arrange more events and send away even more students to courses!

Remember to visit us if you are passing through Lund.. we might be home! ;)
